Nia Movement Trainer

What does a normal day entail?

I love exercise and movement and my days always start with a walk around my local suburb and then a coffee stop at my favourite local cafe. In the morning I always make my own refreshing smoothie, and then I will teach a class whether on line or face to face. I’m a true Gemini so in my week I juggle several different job roles, from sales, administration teaching classes ranging from Nia, Qigong and Ageless Grace. This year, I become a grandmother for the first time and look forward to spending time with my grandchild in between my classes and work.

 

What do you love most about your job?

I love teaching dance and movement and feel grateful for the benefits I feel instantly when teaching, from being energized, relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated. I feel a great sense of satisfaction knowing that I can bring some of these feel good emotions to my students Enhancing their health and wellbeing.

What do you love doing outside of work?

I enjoy walks in the park, spending time with my husband and our 3 adult children as well as our precious granddaughter, and their fur babies. Every so often we organise to spend time together whether brunching, or dinner and my husband and I love hearing their stories as they navigate their adult lives.

I also love exercise and movement and every day I will try and fit a class in for myself whether it be Yoga, Pilates, or Meditation either in person or online.  Most evenings at home I like to end the day with half hour of online YIN yoga.

What were you going to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a primary school teacher, and a dancer, but life took me in other directions.  However, in my 40’s I discovered Nia dance and other Movement modalities, fulfilling that deep desire to be a dancer I yearned as a child.

What is a totally different job you would like to try?

I always like to think of myself as a performer and I would have loved to have danced professionally or been an actress in stage productions.

What have you studied?

I have studied many different courses ranging from childcare, administration, and fitness. I have trained in many different movement modalities, ranging from Nia Dance, Tai Chi, Qigong, Chi Ball moves, and Ageless Grace.
